JOB DESCRIPTION.
We’re working with a new AA studio building a fantasy action-adventure in Unreal Engine 5, and they’re looking for a Technical Character Animator to help bring the game’s characters to life through fluid combat and traversal systems.
This is a key early role where you’ll be prototyping movement and combat sequences that define how the game actually feels to play. You’ll be handling everything from rigging to in-engine setup, building animation blueprints, and working closely with designers to make sure animation feeds directly into gameplay loops.
They’re after someone who knows Unreal inside out – especially when it comes to animation systems – and who can move fast to prototype transitions like punch-to-run or climb-to-dive. It’s a great fit for someone with a hands-on, indie mindset or a background in technical animation at a AA or AAA studio.
The studio is remote-first and operates on trust and output, not hours. Pay is competitive, and there’s real creative ownership on offer. As the team scales, there’s potential for this to grow into a lead or department head role.
If you’ve got a reel that shows rigged characters and in-engine animation (UE5 preferred), and ideally a playable or video prototype of your combat/traversal work, apply today!
