JOB DESCRIPTION.
We’re supporting a new AA studio in the early stages of building a third-person fantasy action-adventure, and they’re looking for a Lead Gameplay Systems Designer to help define the core gameplay mechanics.
This is a proof-of-concept phase, so it’s still early days – meaning every hire has a real say in shaping the game’s systems, structure, and feel. The right person will take ownership of combat, movement, traversal, and environmental interactions, and help lay the foundations for a project that blends creativity with technical craft.
They’re after someone with experience designing and implementing gameplay systems on shipped titles, someone who understands player psychology, feedback loops, and pacing – and who’s not afraid to prototype quickly and iterate often.
The studio is remote-first and fully collaborative, with plans to scale. This role is designed to grow into something more senior – potentially Game Director – so leadership potential is important, even if you’re not there just yet.
Compensation is competitive, with flexibility to start on a contract basis if needed. Think Nintendo-level pay, no crunch culture, and a focus on creative ownership.
If you’ve got a portfolio of shipped systems, design docs, or gameplay prototypes – and you’re looking to take a lead role in something fresh – let’s chat.
